REMODELING, LIKE HOME CONSTRUCTION, SLOWS DOWN
December 5, 1990
WASHINGTON
Although remodeling has been spared the dramatic declines facing other sectors of the housing industry, it has stalled and little growth is expected in the near future, according to the National Association of Home Builders. Total expenditures maintenance, alterations, and repairs are expected to be about $105 billion to $107 billion in 1990, showing little or no real gain in inflation-adjusted dollars over 1989's total of $101 billion. Remodeling expenditures are expected to increase about 3 percent in 1991 - a slight drop in inflation-adjusted spending.
