American farmland prices yielded their fourth straight gain in 1990, further extending agriculture's recovery from its worst economic slump since the Great Depression. A nationwide poll of 368 farm managers and rural property appraisers found prices rose 3.1 percent nationwide in 1990, and are projected to increase 0.9 percent in 1991, despite a recessionary US economy, a shrinking farm program, and faltering international trade talks.
