UNEMPLOYMENT AFFECTS FAMILIES

In nearly 20 percent of the nation's households - 19 million homes - at least one family member was unemployed during the last 12 months, according to a survey by the Conference Board, a business organization.The average length of unemployment is five to six months. In more than 25 percent of all cases, a family member was out of a job for 10 months or more, the survey says.
