SLOW SALES OF HOME APPLIANCES

The home appliance industry shipped over 3.3 million units in January, the lowest monthly level since 1983, according to the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers.

While monthly appliance shipments were down 6.2 percent from a year ago, dehumidifier and microwave oven shipments rose 6.1 percent and 2.5 percent respectively.
