CFCs TO BE CAPTURED FOR REUSE

As of July 1, federal law will require that the chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) used in air conditioners and refrigerators be captured and recycled rather than released into the air when machines are serviced. This step is part of a broader program to phase out the chemicals, which harm the earth's protective ozone layer. By 1996, new cooling equipment must use replacement chemicals rather than CFCs.
