Clinton Strikes Back On `Family Values' Issue

GOV. Bill Clinton is refusing to allow Republicans to corner the market on family values while "making it harder for everyone else to raise their children."

Mr. Clinton accused Bush of endorsing a "Willie Horton"-like war on all working women by allowing convention speakers to attack Hillary Clinton, the Democratic nominee's Yale-educated wife. The GOP has "obviously been taken over by the extreme, intolerant right-wing," he said Wednesday. "You'd think he [Bush] was running for first lady."

He said Republicans act like they are the only ones who love their children, who cherish the family: "Never mind the fact that we have run this economy into the ground; never mind the fact that we've made it harder for everyone else to raise their children; never mind the fact that we have to follow an extreme right-wing agenda."
