Israel began the gradual release of about 600 Palestinian prisoners yesterday as a step toward easing restrictions in the occupied territories, the Army said.
The first prisoners were freed just hours before the start of the second week of the negotiations. Relatives and friends waited at this roadblock separating Israel from the occupied Gaza Strip for buses transporting the prisoners from Ketziot, in Lebanon.
