1934 Graduates from Smith College.

1949 Receives `Grande Diplome' at Cordon Bleu cooking school, Paris.

1961 `Mastering the Art of French Cooking, Vol. I,' with Louisette Bertholle and Simone Beck, published by Knopf, the start of a long relationship with that publisher.

1963 The French Chef, with Mrs. Child as host, debuts on Boston's WGBH-TV as a local show.

1964 The French Chef premieres on PBS.

1965 Series wins Peabody Award for "distinguished service in television." It wins an Emmy the next year.

1968 `The French Chef Cookbook' published.

1970 `Mastering the Art of French Cooking, Vol. II,' with Simone Beck.

1973 Child "retires" from TV to write and cook.

1975 `From Julia Child's Kitchen' published.

1976 Child receives Chevalier de L'Ordre du Merite from the French government.

1978 `Julia Child & Company,' TV series and cookbook.

1980 `Julia Child & More Company,' TV series and book.

1983 Dinner at Julia's, TV series.

1989 `The Way To Cook,' Julia Child's seventh cookbook.

1990 Celebrates 10 years on ABC-TV's Good Morning America, which has aired eight segments yearly with her since the show began.

1992 Marks 30th year on television.
