The Women's Sports Foundation (WSF) is a nonprofit, educational organization dedicated to promoting and enhancing the sports and fitness experience for all girls and women.

"We try to educate Congress," says founding member Donna de Varona. "We honor women.... We give out travel and training grants. We bring everyone together so we can share stories and maybe bond a little bit and help each other out in times of stress. We've tried to address how you make the transition from being a great track and field star or skater to the world of sponsorships or television."

The WSF was established in 1974 by tennis star Billie Jean King and other women athletes including de Varona, Micki King Hogue, and Wyomia Tyus.

The foundation's goal is to improve the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of all females through sports and fitness participation. There are 1,000 voting members and 250,000 associate members.
