WASHINGTON
A growing number of Americans plan to hit the road this summer. About 82 percent of all adults will take a "road trip" and 15 percent will travel by airplane, according to a 1993 "Summer Vacation Forecast," produced by the Travel Industry Association of America (TIA) in Washington.
Travelers will vacation an average of four to five nights and spend more money than they did last year, TIA reports. Nearly 25 percent of the vacationers say they intend to spend more on trips this summer despite a slow economy and an increase in travel prices.
