CORRECTION COCorrection for July 30, 1993 and August 13, 1993

The July 30 editorial "Castro's Cuba Hangs On" gave the incorrect date for Fidel Castro's "coming ashore." Castro led an attack on the Moncada Army barracks on July 26, 1953. He left Cuba, returning in 1956. In addition, Fulgencio Batista fled Cuba in 1959.

In the Aug. 13 opinion essay "The Real Rift Among Palestinians," a sentence misidentified the country whose strategic role was reduced. It should have read, "Iraq's strategic role was reduced, and it became preoccupied with sovereignty and territorial integrity."
