Preserve history of apartheid gone `bust'
September 16, 1994
IT'S understandable that [African National Congress lawmakers] should want to take down the portraits, busts, and other relics of earlier regimes that are so prominently displayed inside Parliament. Not such a good idea is that these relics of the apartheid and colonial eras should be banished to some remote spot. By all means move offending symbols to less conspicuous places; but for the sake of posterity, they should be available for viewing.... A small museum within Parliament would be ideal.
