WORTH NOTING ON TV

June 1, 1995

* FRIDAY

NBA semifinal (NBC, 9-11 p.m., EDT): In Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals, the Indiana Pacers face the Orlando Magic at Indiana's Market Square Arena in a best-of-seven series.

Investigative Reports (A&E, 9-10 p.m.): The leading cause of death among rank-and-file police across the United States is not murder by criminals but suicide. It's a grim and important statistic sometimes overlooked in coverage of violent street crime and other high-profile events. This edition of the series -- ''Cops on the Edge'' -- looks at the problem and what police departments are doing about it.

* SATURDAY

French Open (NBC, 12-3 and 1-4 p.m., EDT): In the United States it's not as highly publicized as Wimbledon or the US Open, yet some experts view the French Open, with its slow red-clay courts, as the most demanding of them all.

During the tournament -- this is third-round coverage of an event to be held over two weeks at the Roland Garros Stadium in Paris -- many eyes will be on top-seeded Andre Agassi. It's the first time he has entered a Grand Slam tournament as the world's No. 1-ranked player. He took the spot from Pete Sampras last April.

Among the women, Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, the defending champion and top-ranked player in the world, can expect a stiff challenge from Steffi Graf, with whom she has exchanged the top position several times this year.

NBA semifinal (NBC, 3-6 p.m., EDT): Western Conference Finals, Game 7 (if needed). Defending-champion Houston Rockets vs. San Antonio Spurs, in San Antonio.

* SUNDAY

French Open (NBC, 1-4 p.m., EDT): Third-round coverage.

NBA semifinal (NBC, 3-6 p.m., EDT): Eastern Conference Finals, Game 7 (if needed).
