THE GILROY GARLIC FESTIVAL

What: An annual celebration of food, fun, and entertainment, which began in 1979.

When: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, July 28 through 30. Hours: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Where: Christmas Hill Park in Gilroy, Calif., 30 miles south of San Jose on Highway 101.

How much: Admission is $7 Friday, $8 Saturday and Sunday; children and seniors, $2 all days.
