Feed Your Mind (TBS, 7:05-7:35 a.m. EDT): The season premiere of this upbeat, entertaining program for kids is an ''Underwater Adventure.'' Youngsters Ivan Kim and Corri English, members of the ''Feed Your Mind'' team, take scuba-diving lessons, while others explore (above water) some of the sea's plants and creatures.

The following Saturday's episode shows how computer technology is used to animate cartoon characters and claymation figures.

The Adventures of Pete & Pete (Nickelodeon, 6:30-7 p.m.): Actress Patricia Hearst and actor/comedian Bill Irwin guest-star in the third-season premiere of this series, which interweaves youth-related issues into humorous stories about two suburban brothers. The season opener follows the two Petes when their parents go away for the weekend and leave them in charge of the house.

This program is the conclusion to ''Petestock '95,'' which begins at noon and traces the brothers through earlier episodes.

Michael Stipe: VH1 to One (VH1, 6:30-7 p.m. EDT): R.E.M.'s lead singer and lyricist talks with VH1's Anthony DeCurtis about the band's tour and their recent album, ''Monster.'' Coverage continues at 9:30 with ''Don't Touch the R.E.M.ote: VH1 on Tour With R.E.M.,'' which includes concert footage and videos ''What's the Frequency, Kenneth?'' and ''Losing My Religion.''

Springfield's Most Wanted (FOX, 7:30-8 p.m.): John Walsh, host of ''America's Most Wanted,'' will help track down the answer to last season's cliffhanger on ''The Simpsons'': Who shot Mr. Burns? The season premiere of ''The Simpsons'' will follow at 8, promising to reveal the culprit's identity.

The Chase (The Weather Channel, 8-9 p.m. EDT): Take an adventure with professional and amateur tornado-chasers, who relate their experiences and share footage of what they've seen. The program features scientists with Project Vortex, a scientific chase study of tornadoes.
