Moonlight hits

the roof, becomes

a fall of snow.

The raccoon climbing

the slant slate by slate,

is a striped polar bear.

And the gray mouse

shimmying up the vine

is an albino lion.

But the snowy owl,

eyes sharp, claws

poised, is white.
