On Abortion...

Should be illegal except when the mother's life is in danger or in cases of rape or incest.

On Affirmative Action...

Opposes quotas in affirmative-action programs, but sees a government role in recruiting minorities and women as job applicants, with hiring based on merit.

On Gun Control...

Would maintain all federal firearm restrictions and gun-registration rules.

On Taxes...

Would abolish the income tax and replace it with a 17 percent sales tax, with exemptions for food, clothing, and shelter.

On Bureaucrats...

Would eliminate Education Department and Internal Revenue Service.

On the Environment...

Favors stronger Clean Water Act and higher fees for ranchers and mining companies using federal lands. Opposes transferring federal lands to state or local governments.

On Balanced Budget...

Favors a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.

On Education...

Supports constitutional amendment on voluntary school prayer and vouchers for public, private, or religious schools.

On Welfare...

Would require recipients to accept government-sponsored job after two years if unable to find other work. Would require unwed teen mothers to live with parents or guardian if possible. Supports block-grant programs for states, including food stamps.

On Term Limits...

Opposes them.
