Radishes
August 7, 1997
You can't always tell
the size of a radish
from the foliage. Some
bushy plants shoot up
from scant roots. Some
smaller tops sprout from
big, round, scarlet radishes.
A moralist might say you can't
tell a book by its cover. I say
if you trim off the tops and tap roots
against your thumb, use a dull knife
and don't slide the blade.
