SUNDAY 2/22

Oprah Winfrey Presents: 'The Wedding' (ABC, 9-11 p.m.): An engaging and heartfelt drama set in the 1950s, based on the acclaimed novel by Dorothy West. Shelby Coles (Halle Berry) is a beautiful black woman about to marry the man of her dreams. But when she brings her white, underemployed fianc (Eric Thal) to meet her family in the affluent African-American community of Martha's Vineyard, Coles is torn between her family's expectations and the love for her husband-to-be. Part 2 airs Monday night at the same time. (TV-PG)

MONDAY 2/23

Spytek (Discovery, 8-11 p.m.): Move over James Bond: This intriguing documentary explores real incidents in the clandestine world of espionage. In three one-hour segments, ex-Bond Roger Moore discusses how the FBI tracked and caught CIA traitor Aldrich Ames; assassinations, including the failed attempts on Cuban leader Fidel Castro; and gadgetry, some of which could make Bond look like Simple Simon. (TV-G)

The Closer (CBS, 9-9:30 p.m.): The day after concluding its Olympic coverage, CBS is premiring this sitcom with Tom Selleck. He is convincing as Jack McLaren, an advertising executive, but the debut tries to tell a lot in little time. The result is an unsteady rush. After being fired at the start of the episode, McLaren starts his own agency, puts together a new team, receives divorce papers from his estranged wife, and tries to convince his snowboarding daughter not to forgo school. (TV-PG, DL)

The American Experience - Reagan (PBS, 9-11 p.m.): Nostalgia from the 1980s has already arrived with this compelling profile of Ronald Reagan. The two-part program offers intriguing insights from the former president's family and friends. Part 2 airs Tuesday, Feb. 24, 9-11:30 p.m.

WEDNESDAY 2/25

National Geographic - Sea Monsters: Search for the Giant Squid (NBC, 8-9 p.m.): They have eyes the size of volleyballs, yet no one has ever seen a giant squid in its deep-sea habitat. A few dead ones, some as long as 60 feet, have washed ashore. The search is on to unravel the mystery. Marine biologist Clyde Roper, the foremost authority on these elusive creatures, shares his knowledge. Greg Marshall's special cameras make an uncharted journey 1,200 feet under the sea. (TV-G)

The 40th Annual Grammy Awards (CBS, 8-11 p.m.): Kelsey Grammer hosts the music industry's biggest night. The artist to watch: Paula Cole, who is nominated for seven awards, including three for her hit "Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?" (TV-PG)

America in the '40s: A Sentimental Journey (PBS, 8-11 p.m.): Music sets the tone for this three-hour special on America's testing times during the 1940s. This Reader's Digest presentation evokes sentimentality through sweet reminiscences, with lots of joyous swinging sounds from bands such as Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, and Benny Goodman. Yet, even with rare archival footage, the program stops short of being an inquisitive look into the turbulence of the times. It lacks the analytical perspective of "The Fifties," a recent special on the History Channel. (TV-PG)

THURSDAY 2/26

Mystery! The Ice House (PBS, 9-10:30 p.m.): When the gardener of a magnificent estate stumbles upon a body in an icehouse, it reopens a decade-old murder investigation. A twist-and-turn plot and sharply drawn characters fill this mystery with intrigue. Based on Minette Walters's prizewinning novel, this three-hour drama airs in two installments. Part 2 airs March 5. (TV-14, L)
