Correction
January 26, 1999
Several clever readers pointed out an error in the Dec. 29, 1998 Kidspace ("It's about time," pgs. 22-23, by Suman Bandrapalli). At noon, the angle of a stick stuck in the ground and pointed directly at the sun does not equal the stick's latitude. This angle may be used to determine the stick's latitude, however, with the help of astronomical tables. This was an editing error. We apologize.
