BOSTON
The Supreme Court yesterday struck down a California law intended to prevent welfare recipients from cashing in on higher benefits in other states. New residents had been limited to the amount of welfare they received in their previous state. Fourteen other states have similar laws:
Florida
Georgia
Illinois
Maryland
Minnesota
New Hampshire
New Jersey
New York
North Dakota
Pennsylvania
Rhode Island
Vermont
Washington
Wisconsin
