Helping kids surf the Internet safely
May 19, 1999
As school ends, more children will be surfing the Web. Parents may want to set some guidelines about Internet usage. For help, visit www.childrenspartnership.org and read the "Parents' Guide," which includes these suggestions:
*Keep track of online time by using an alarm clock or timer.
*Teach kids to tell you if they run into something scary.
*Tell kids not to give out personal information, or order products, without permission.
*Discuss issues like privacy and anonymity in cyberspace.
