Off the wall
October 20, 1999
Despite its name, wallpaper can be used on almost any flat surface to create unusual and whimsical looks for the home.
Wallpaper will transform flea-market finds into what looks like custom furniture. Trunks, wastebaskets, headboards, and cabinets are good choices for wallpapering, and it doesn't matter whether the surface is metal, laminate, wood, paint, or varnish.
You can also add pizazz to a room by covering panels of a folding screen with your favorite wallpaper or applying a wallpaper border to a cornice.
