Repot that houseplant
April 12, 2000
When a houseplant begins to lose its vigor, it may be time to repot. To find out, carefully remove the root ball from the container. If you see lots of roots, the plant needs a new home.
Select a new container that is only one size larger than the current pot. In a pot that's too big, soil can stay wet, causing the plants' roots to rot.
With your fingers, loosen the roots that are covering the outside of the root ball.
Moisten the potting mix and fill the container one-third full. Place the plant on top and then use more potting mix to fill around the plant.
