The Fat Boys hip-hop group

In the early 1980s, when hip-hop music was in its infancy, three large men from New York won a rap contest at Radio City Music Hall.

The Fat Boys (formerly the Disco 3) consisted of Darren "The Human Beat Box" Robinson, Mark "Prince Markie Dee" Morales, and Damon "Kool Rockski" Wimbley.

The trio was most famous for their comedic renditions and punchy music videos of songs like The Safaris' "Wipeout," Chubby Checkers's "Do the Twist," and the rock 'n' roll classic, "Louie, Louie."

In 1984, the Fat Boys released their debut album, "Fat Boys." Three years later the group starred in the movie "Disorderlies." By then they had also appeared in "Krush Groove" (1985) and "Knights of the City" (1985). They released seven CDs altogether. The group broke up in 1989.

Mark Morales recorded a solo album in 1992 and now works as a producer/songwriter, most recently on a Jennifer Lopez CD. Plans for the group's reunion were abandoned after the death of Darren Robinson in 1995.
