Sunset

The moment the sun sets -

not darkness,

but that exact moment

when the intensity

of light is suddenly

gone from the sky -

at that very moment

birds cry out over the river

as if calling to say

that even we might

discover something

amazing

come evening,

if we'd listen,

if we'd pay attention.
