College students read movie-ing literature
College isn't usually a popular time for pleasure reading - students' rooms are already piled with heavy tomes on subjects like tax law or microbiology. But when the hankering for unassigned reading does come, it's most likely satisfied by a plot that's also playing out on the big screen. Here's a list of the Top 10, according to February book sales at about 50 US campuses:
1. "A Beautiful Mind," by Sylvia Nasar
2. "A Painted House," by John Grisham
3. "The Tipping Point," by Malcolm Gladwell
4. "A Walk to Remember," by Nicholas Sparks
5. "Harry Potter and the Sorcererís Stone," by J.K. Rowling
6. "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, by J.R.R. Tolkien
7. "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," by J.K. Rowling
8. "Fast Food Nation," by Eric Schlosser
9. "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets," by J.K. Rowling
10. "Fall on Your Knees," by Ann-Marie MacDonald
