Auto thieves eye the Acura Integra

May 20, 2002

Buy an Acura Integra, and you may not see it in the driveway in the morning. The Integra leads the list of passenger cars most likely to be stolen, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Its 21.7 claims per 1,000 insured vehicles is more than eight times the average for all cars and more than twice as high as the second-leading car, the Jeep Wrangler. The car with the lowest theft-claim frequency is the Buick LaSabre. Since 1980, the overall frequency of theft claims has declined, while average insurance payments per claim have increased.
