Music to my eyes
July 7, 2003
I woke up this sunny morning
to see one of Ravel's symphonies,
a moving mélange of branches and leaves
dancing outside my window.
The orchestra, a grove of swaying trees
sashaying under a cloudless blue sky.
Big trees, the basso profundos;
willowy, slender legato trees
graciously whirling to and fro.
Splendid harmonies could be heard for miles,
bobbing and weaving with grand finesse
that even a Muhammad Ali would envy.
