Clean water needs
March 18, 2004
This week, Consumers International (CI) is highlighting a global challenge: 1 in 6 of the world's people does not have an adequate supply of safe water. Also, the World Bank reports:
• Two-fifths of the world lives without proper sanitation.
• In the developing world, 9 of 10 don't have their wastewater treated.
• Every day, another 200,000 people get access to basic sanitation. But to reach the World Bank's 2015 goal - reducing by half the number of people without sanitation - 300,000 will have to gain access daily.
