Into It: Shooter Jennings
Shooter Jennings, musician and son of Nashville legend Waylon Jennings, what are you ...
... Watching?
I loved Walk the Line, not just because I'm in it [portraying his late father], but because it's a great movie. I just saw "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" for the first time. I love the Coen Brothers. "The Big Lebowski" is probably hands-down my favorite movie of all time. I loved "Barton Fink" and "Raising Arizona" and "Fargo." Every movie they do is a work of art.
... Listening to?
I've been listening to this guy I discovered named Terry Reid, who was asked to be in the band that became Led Zeppelin. He said, 'No, but there are two guys I want you to meet' - and it was [drummer] John Bonham and [frontman] Robert Plant. And so this guy, Terry Reid, his career never took off. I was watching this movie the other day and there were a couple of songs during the credits I liked. I said, 'Who's that?' [That's how] I found Terry Reid. Just before that I had gotten into this guy, Steve Young, who wrote [what later became Waylon Jennings's anthem] "Lonesome, On'ry & Mean" and "Seven Bridges Road." He was a real under-cover gem. If you can find the record "Seven Bridges Road," get it.
... Playing?
I have a [PlayStation Portable] I take with me on the road. I got Grand Theft Auto - you can play wirelessly and play with other people. I'm also into those adventure games, too, ones with scripts and story lines. I wasn't a "Dungeons & Dragons" kid, but I do like being immersed in this other world. There is a real art to those games.
