Elegance

Like African women,
flowingly dressed
walking rhythmically
balancing effortlessly
water jugs on heads,
I wish to bear burdens
with ease and forward movement,
bathed in the graceful
spirit rhythm
of jungle drums
gurgling streams
and ancient songs.
