A film buff's bonus: in-person stars with favorite movies

For $25, ticketholders to Wednesday night's sold-out American Film Institute anniversary event will get more than popcorn, soda, and a seat for a classic movie; they'll also get to ogle some of the very stars in the movies. To celebrate the 40th year of the AFI, the largest nonprofit film exhibitor and cinematic arts educator in the US, live introductions to each of 11 films shown at the Arclight Hollywood complex will be given by a legendary star in the film or the filmmaker. The lineup, with the year of the movie's release, and the presenter:

  • "Spartacus" (1960) Kirk Douglas
  • "The Birds" (1963) Tippi Hedren
  • "The Sound of Music" (1965) Julie Andrews
  • "Bonnie and Clyde" (1967) Warren Beatty
  • "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" (1975) Jack Nicholson
  • "Rocky" (1976) Sylvester Stallone
  • "Star Wars – Episode IV: A New Hope" (1977) George Lucas
  • "When Harry Met Sally" (1989) Billy Crystal and Rob Reiner
  • "Beauty and the Beast" (1991) Angela Lansbury
  • "Unforgiven" (1992) Clint Eastwood
  • "The Shawshank Redemption" (1994) Morgan Freeman
