Every once in while a really good book comes into my hands. Last night I finished reading The Prophet of Dry Hill: Lessons from a Life in Nature, by David Gessner. It’s the story of John Hay, a man trying to tell us about cultivating the deep connections to the land we live on and the importance of knowing the wild. Nature is the path to our deeper selves. Hay was close to being the modern Henry Thoreau of Cape Cod.
