I’ve just begun The Swing Vote, Linda Killian’s new book on the untapped power of independent voters. Now at 40 percent, independents are the largest and fastest-growing bloc of voters, but the two-party duopoly still holds our democracy in check, excluding independents from 19 state primaries and remapping voting districts at will. How much longer can this go on?! That’s just one of several questions as I read more of this book.
