Readers who enjoy Stephen King as I do will appreciate the work of Dan Simmons. I started with The Terror and continued on with "Black Hills" and "Drood." From the standpoint of historical fiction, these books were well researched and fascinating – with that touch of the macabre for which King is so famous.
