Pride of Carthage

I just finished Pride of Carthage by David Anthony Durham. The book is historical fiction and Durham does a wonderful job of bringing the families of these soldiers to life. It’s richly written ... probably one of the best books I have read in a long while. It brings the horrors of war to life both from a soldier’s perspective, from a general’s perspective, and from the families-waiting-anxiously-at-home perspective. Wow!
