Hamilton's Blessing

November 16, 2008

Hamilton's Blessing by John Steel Gordon takes on the subject of public debt. The concept was developed in the 16th century by the Dutch during their fight for independence from Spain. Steele covers the subject all the way up through the US government's assumptions of the war debts of the states and on through Clinton's first term. He's right in warning against public debt but don't take his cures for it too seriously.
