First Person America
November 17, 2008
I just finished a fascinating and important book: First Person America, edited by Ann Bank. This is a collection of interviews done in the late 1930s by the WPA Writers Project. The words and ideas of the men and women in that moment are relevant, as well as the implementation of the WPA in writing, visual arts, theatre, and other areas of the culture of the period. I recommend it to anyone interested in history or current events, and especially to Obama’s transition team.
