War and Peace

I never thought that I’d ever really read all of Leo Tolstoy’s War and Peace, but a friend encouraged me to tackle the new translation by Richard Pevear and Larissa  Volokhonsky. This time I’m almost finished and I find it to be splendid. In previous attempts to read “War and Peace” I could never keep track of the characters, but this time I have been able to do so. Footnotes were helpful as well. My friend wisely  suggested that I “clear the deck” of other books in order to read Tolstoy
