Justinian's Flea
August 1, 2009
I'm reading Justinian's Flea by William Rosen. It's about the effects of the pandemic of bubonic plague in 542 and after during which more than 25 million people died. It also had a major effect on the rise of Islam and the formation of Christendom into what would become the European states. Rosen's clear and briskly paced writing style knits his considerable research into an engaging and thought-provoking glimpse of those five hundred years since the time of Jesus.
