The Worst Journey in the World by Apsley Cherry-Garrard is a first person account of the 1910-1913 Robert Falcon Scott expedition to the South Pole. It is a story of high adventure, challenging logistics, extreme danger, and profound heartbreak. After reading this well-written, enthralling tale I am in awe of the team's touchingly naive spirit of confidence, its willingness to sacrifice for the advancement of knowledge, and the members' boundless esprit de corps.
