Books that go to the Oscars
February 25, 2008
It was certainly nice to see Cormac McCarthy sitting in the audience last night as “No Country for Old Men” took four Oscars.
But of course his wasn’t the only book to score a big win.
“The Bourne Ultimatum” came from Robert Ludlum’s book. “There Will Be Blood” was adapted from Upton Sinclair’s novel “Oil” and “Atonement” was based Ian McEwan’s novel.
It’s too bad that so many more people will see the movies than will ever read the books, but on the other hand it’s great that the films will give those books new life.
What about next year?
