'Dallas Buyers Club' director Jean-Marc Vallée signs on for 'Wild' movie

Vallée will direct the adaptation of Cheryl Strayed's bestselling memoir.

The film adaptation of Cheryl Strayed’s bestselling memoir “Wild” has found a director.

Jean-Marc Vallée, who is also behind the upcoming movie “Dallas Buyers Club,” is set to direct the movie which will star Reese Witherspoon as Strayed.

“Dallas” tells the story of an electrician who went up against pharmaceutical companies after being diagnosed with HIV in the 1980s. The film is due to be released this December. Vallée is also behind the 2009 film “The Young Victoria,” for which actress Emily Blunt received a Golden Globe nomination.

Writer Nick Hornby of “About a Boy” and “An Education” is penning the screenplay.

“Wild,” which was originally released in March 2012 and is still at number 20 on the New York Times combined print and e-book nonfiction list.
