A new trailer for the film adaptation of the first book in Veronica Roth’s young adult trilogy, “Divergent,” was recently released at the MTV Video Music Awards

The clip, which is slightly longer than a minute, opens with Kate Winslet portraying Jeanine Matthews, the leader of one of the factions in the novel. (Modern-day Chicago is divided into five factions in Roth’s world, and people join based on their traits.)

“The future belongs to those who know where they belong,” Winslet says.

Tracing fentanyl’s path into the US starts at this port. It doesn’t end there.

“The Spectacular Now” actress Shailene Woodley stars in the film as Tris, a teenager who finds she doesn’t fit neatly into one faction. Actor Theo James stars as Four, an instructor who trains Tris to fight, and “Spectacular” actor Miles Teller plays Peter, who doesn’t believe Tris belongs in her new faction. The movie is being directed by “Limitless” helmer Neil Burger.

Roth has released the first two books in her planned trilogy and the third, “Allegiant,” is scheduled to be released Oct. 22.

The movie “Divergent” will come to theaters March 21.
