Kate DiCamillo's 'Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane' will be directed by Robert Zemeckis
Zemeckis has also directed such films aimed at children such as 'The Polar Express' and 'A Christmas Carol.'

“The Polar Express” director Robert Zemeckis will be helming a film adaptation of author Kate DiCamillo’s book “The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane,” according to Variety.
The book, which was released in 2006 and is illustrated by Bagram Ibatoulline, centers on a conceited china rabbit named Edward Tulane who is separated from his doting young owner. He must learn humility and the importance of loving others as he becomes acquainted with such people as a fisherman and a very ill young girl.
“Tulane” captured the Boston Globe-Horn Book Fiction Award, which is bestowed on a children’s or young adult book, in 2006.
The novel was adapted for the screen by “Bridge to Terabithia” writer Jeff Stockwell.
Zemeckis was also behind such films as “Flight,” “A Christmas Carol,” and “Cast Away.”
DiCamillo’s other works include “Flora & Ulysses,” which was released this past September, “Because of Winn-Dixie,” and “The Tale of Despereaux,” which was also adapted into a film in 2006 with voice work by Matthew Broderick and Emma Watson.
