Amazon's new imprint StoryFront will publish short stories

The new imprint of the online bookseller has already released works by authors including William Lashner and Rebecca Adams Wright.

Amazon’s newest publishing imprint, titled StoryFront, will release short stories, according to the online bookselling giant.

The imprint will release short works of fiction based in multiple genres. 

The publisher created a weekly literary magazine titled Day One in October that is available only on Kindle devices and publishes short stories, poetry, and translations of fiction pieces from around the world. Pieces originally released through Day One will now be published through StoryFront as well and StoryFront will be in charge of Day One.

“Based on the continued success of short fiction on Kindle as well as the enthusiastic response to Day One – we received thousands of subscriptions in the first week – we know readers are hungry for short stories and excited about exploring new genres," Amazon’s publisher of adult trade and children's group Daphne Durham said in a statement. “With StoryFront, we're feeding that enthusiasm by offering a wide range of stories curated by a team of editors who are committed to the craft.”

Authors including William Lashner, Christian Cantrell, and Rebecca Adams Wright have released fiction through Storyfront. Translated pieces from all over the world are also available.

Amazon had previously launched imprints including 47North, which focuses on fantasy and sci-fi, Montlake Romance, and Jet City Comics, which publishes graphic novels and comics.
