'The Red Tent' will reportedly become a Lifetime miniseries
'The Red Tent' by Anita Diamant is a novel based on the Old Testament figures of Leah and Jacob.
Anita Diamant’s bestselling novel “The Red Tent” will reportedly become a two-part miniseries released by Lifetime.
“Tent” was first released in 1997 and centers on the family of two people featured in the Old Testament, Leah and Jacob, and tells the story of Jacob and his four wives as well as that of Leah and Jacob’s daughter Dinah, who has a difficult relationship with her brother Joseph and who eventually marries a prince.
According to Deadline, Dinah will be portrayed by “The White Queen” actress Rebecca Ferguson and Leah will be played by “About a Boy” actress Minnie Driver. Morena Baccarin of “Homeland” will play one of Jacob’s other wives, Rachel, and “Game of Thrones” actor Iain Glen will take on the role of Jacob. Actor Will Tudor, also of “Thrones,” will play the role of Jacob.
“The Red Tent brings premium and popular elements to a unique and timeless story,” Lifetime executive vice-president Rob Sharenow said in a statement. “It perfectly articulates our vision for Lifetime as the destination for epic movie events.”
The series will air on two nights in two-hour episodes, according to Deadline.
