The movie adaptation of Cheryl Strayed’s bestselling memoir “Wild” has gained new cast members and gotten a release date.

The film will be released on Dec. 5, according to Entertainment Weekly. As previously announced, it stars “Mud” actress Reese Witherspoon as Strayed, who decides to hike the Pacific Crest Trail after a divorce and the death of her mother. The movie is directed by Jean-Marc Vallee, who directed the Oscar-nominated 2013 movie “Dallas Buyers Club.”

According to IndieWire, “Enlightened” actress Laura Dern will also star in the movie as Strayed’s mother, Bobbi. Other cast members include Gaby Hoffmann of “Girls” as Strayed’s friend Aimee, “Orphan Black” actor Michiel Huisman as Strayed’s love interest Jonathan, and “The Newsroom” actor Thomas Sadoski as Strayed’s ex-husband Paul.

Tracing fentanyl’s path into the US starts at this port. It doesn’t end there.

Strayed herself has posted various updates about the movie on her Facebook page.

“I am so excited for you all to see it,” the author wrote on May 12, after the film’s release date was announced, and added after a later post about the movie, "Sorry for the multiple movie posts today. I'm just excited!"
