'American Gods' to be adapted for TV by Starz

An adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s fantasy novel “American Gods” is reportedly moving forward.
The network Starz will air a series version of Gaiman’s novel, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Bryan Fuller, the creator of NBC’s series “Hannibal” and Michael Green, executive producer of the ABC show “The River,” will reportedly serve as showrunners and Gaiman will executive-produce the adaptation.
“I can't wait to see what they do to bring the story to the widest possible audience able to cope with it,” Gaiman said of the team behind the project, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

A TV adaptation of “American Gods” had been in the works before at HBO, which put a series based on the novel into development but later abandoned the idea.
“American Gods” was first published in 2001 and follows protagonist Shadow Moon, who is a witness to a battle between old and new gods.
Starz is airing a TV adaptation of another novel, “Outlander” by Diana Gabaldon, this August.
